Portland After Dark [3]
Tonight is the final evening in my ‘Portland After Dark’ course, and here are the photographs from last weeks course in Downtown Portland. One of the hardest pieces of these courses is selecting which photographs to present for review, I find that my judgement of whether a shot is good comes as much from what I intended as how the shot worked out. Using the other photographers as a touch stone really helps.

It depicts a woman in classical clothes with a trident reaching down with right hand to greet visitors to the building. Portlandia is 36 feet high. If standing, she would be approximately over 50 feet high, making her the second largest copper repoussé statue in the United States after the Statue of Liberty. | [![Raymond Kaskey - Portlandia](/u/2007/03/12/raymond_kaskey_portlandia_2_thumbnail.jpg) ](/u/2007/03/12/raymond_kaskey_portlandia_2.jpg) | ||

Here we have a slow exposure which gives an effect much like an ice sculpure. At faster shutter speeds, the water in the fountain is caught in motion. Light from below, the water flowing across the stone has an almost glass like feel. | [![Fountains at Standard Plaza, Portland [3]](/u/2007/03/12/standard_plaza_portland_fountain_3_thumbnail.jpg) ](/u/2007/03/12/standard_plaza_portland_fountain_3.jpg) | [![Fountains at Standard Plaza, Portland [4]](/u/2007/03/12/standard_plaza_portland_fountain_4_thumbnail.jpg) ](/u/2007/03/12/standard_plaza_portland_fountain_4.jpg) |
